The Development Assistant will support the development team’s fundraising work, which includes developing social media content, assisting with grant applications, and communicating with funding partners. This role reports to the Grants Coordinator. They will be responsible to attend weekly development meetings as well as periodic check-in meetings with their supervisor. This position will require 20 hours per week and can be done remotely. Doc Wayne aims to provide growth opportunities for all employees and this position has the potential to become a full-time role in the coming months. The hourly rate for this position is between $20/hour and $22/hour.

Essential functions:

  • Maintain grants database including grants applied to, status of application, grant deadline, final decision, etc.
  • Maintain organized schedule for grant submissions, with supervision from the Grants Coordinator
  • Research new grant opportunities, ensuring alignment with Doc Wayne’s mission, vision, and values
  • Prepare grant application drafts for review by supervisor
  • Attend weekly development team meetings and other required organization-wide trainings and meetings
  • Attend all development team meetings, take notes, and follow-up with team needs
  • Assist CEO with special projects and daily tasks such as meeting scheduling and other administrative needs
  • Participate in and support other development related activities such as fundraising events, individual giving projects, etc.
  • Take on new projects to support organizational growth, as needed
  • Participate in and complete required trainings

  • Work professionally and collaboratively with all partners
  • Share creative ideas that advance the mission of Doc Wayne


  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Previous experience with database management preferred
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Must be available during working hours (9am-5pm EST) for remote meetings (over Zoom)
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Canva, etc.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
  • Bilingual capacity (preferred)
  • Team player dedicated to social justice and to Doc Wayne’s mission
  • Willingness and openness to learn new skills through provided trainings, supervision, etc.
  • Ability to think out of the box, share ideas, and get involved
