Adult Companion
Job Type: Part Time
Schedule: 20 hours; M-F
Location: North Adams, MA 01247
Adult Companion Responsibilities:
As an Adult Companion, you will provide non-medical care to a functionally disabled senior. The goal of this role is to help members stay safely in their homes. You will help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, and other daily living activities. This service is provided in accordance with a therapeutic goal in the service plan.
There are 2 positions available in North Adams:
1.) A gentleman in his 50s. He is an amputee (leg) and uses a power chair for mobility. Looking for someone to work nights/weekends, to take him shopping and other places.
2.) A woman in her 60s who gets around fairly well with a walker. Looking for someone to provide companionship and take her out into the community for shopping, etc., on Tuesdays and Thursdays after 3:00 pm, plus weekends.
Requirements
Adult Companion Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A high school diploma, or have life or work experience with individuals with disabilities and/or seniors.
- Awareness of diabetic skin care needs.
- Detail-oriented and observant.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Appropriate communication skills to effectively communicate with members, caregivers, and other stakeholders.
- Be able to handle emergency situations.
- Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified.
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, availability of private vehicle, up-to-date car insurance
CORI, SORI, DPPC, and National Fingerprint Check. - A negative Mantoux TB test or a clear chest x-ray.
