- Marketing Assistant
Description
Jewish Family & Children’s Service seeks a Marketing Assistant to support implementation of the agency’s marketing strategy. The Marketing & Communications team, part of the Institutional Advancement department, builds awareness and support for JF&CS’s broad range of services that help individuals and families strengthen resilience and well-being across the lifespan.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Assistant plays a key role in executing content strategy across digital and print channels. This position is part of a small, collaborative in-house team supported by external vendors and works closely with staff across the agency’s diverse social service programs.
JF&CS is a complex agency serving more than 16,000 people each year, offering an opportunity to do mission-driven work with meaningful social impact. This is a full time, non-exempt position (36.25 hours per week), paid at an hourly rate of $23.87-$25.46 ($45,000-$48,000 annually). The role follows a hybrid work schedule requiring at least three onsite days per week in our Waltham office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Media
- Regularly update the JF&CS website—including blog posts and program pages—with timely content tightly aligned to organizational messaging and optimized for search.
- Support creation of the monthly Making Connections enewsletter, including segmentation, strategy, and performance tracking.
- Develop and maintain the infrastructure of JF&CS’s email marketing program, including managing contacts and lists, segmenting audiences, and running campaigns in Constant Contact.
- Support paid and organic social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and additional platforms as needed.
- Use data and analytics to inform decisionmaking across newsletters, social media, website content, and other outreach efforts
Writing & Content Strategy
- Write and edit a wide range of content, including blog posts, website landing pages, newsletters, flyers, social media posts, and other collateral.
- Ensure brand, voice, and messaging consistency across all written materials.
- Identify and cultivate partnerships and channels that expand the reach of JF&CS content.
Design
- Use Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and other design tools to produce collateral aligned with the JF&CS brand for social media, website content, printed mailings, donor appeals, and other uses.
Project Management
- Work with staff across JF&CS to support the marketing needs of the agency’s diverse social service programs.
- Provide marketing and communications support for fundraising appeals, donor outreach, and key Development events.
- Use project management software to develop and execute workplans, communicate with partners, and meet deadlines.

Requirements
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least one year of experience (including internships) in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
- Social media savvy across various platforms
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to shifting needs in a complex environment
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and/or other design platforms;
- Salesforce or other databases; Constant Contact or other email marketing platforms, with the ability to learn new technology quickly
- Experience in a nonprofit or social services environment is a plus, as is familiarity with the Greater Boston Jewish communal landscape.
