Company History

KDC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) human service agency which provides a variety of services and supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

In 1969, Mrs. Luella Hennessey-Donovan founded KDC with a three-year demonstration grant from the Joseph Kennedy, Jr. Foundation. It was to be one of the first community-based programs for children with special needs, which now has grown into a national model.

Today, KDC offers a broad range of community-based services and supports for individuals and their families from birth through adulthood. Services are currently funded through contracts with state agencies under the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, as well as Local Education Agencies, the Division of Medical Assistance, and Third Party Insurers. KDC implements a team approach in the delivery of individual and family-centered supports. Services are provided through multiple program locations in eastern and south central Massachusetts.
KDC takes pride in its historical successes, yet constantly seeks new opportunities for individuals and families who have special needs.
